Electronics Sustainability Convention 2026 (ESCON 2026) Advances E-Waste Solutions for a Sustainable Digital Future

The Electronics Sustainability Convention 2026 (ESCON 2026) was successfully held on August 29–30, 2026, at the GT-Toyota Asian Center, University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City, Philippines. Organized by UP Circuit, the affiliate student organization of the UP Diliman Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute, the event marked the 14th annual iteration of The E-Waste Project (TEP). The convention’s theme, “sTEPping Up: Advancing E-Waste Solutions for a Sustainable Digital Future,” underscored its commitment to tackling the escalating electronic waste crisis in the Philippines.

Over two days, ESCON 2026 featured a series of engaging activities, including symposiums, pitch competitions, roundtable discussions, and a specialized 3D E-Waste Upcycling Competition. These activities fostered collaboration among various sectors, bringing together government agencies such as the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), academic experts, industry leaders, and dedicated volunteers. The convention provided a vital platform to share innovative ideas and best practices to promote sustainable e-waste management.


Representing the Pollution Control Association of the Philippines (PCAPI), Engr. Kristine Gonzalez-Catague delivered a presentation on the “Overview of Electronic Waste (E-Waste) Management Program of PLDT Smart.” Her presentation highlighted PLDT Smart’s comprehensive strategies for e-waste collection, recycling, and responsible disposal, showcasing the industry’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

ESCON 2026 successfully highlighted the urgent need for multi-sector cooperation and innovative solutions to manage electronic waste effectively. The convention not only raised awareness on the challenges posed by e-waste but also strengthened networks among stakeholders dedicated to advancing a sustainable digital future in the Philippines.
