Adopt An Estero/ Water Body Program Meeting

The 1st quarterly meeting of the Adopt an Estero / Water Body Program was held in Lima Technology Center, Lima, Batangas on May 31, 2019. The meeting was led by Ms. Girliesina Sebarillo of EMB Water Quality Division who is also the head of the Adopt An Estero / Water Body Program of EMB- RIVA.
The meeting was attended by representatives from Kepco Ilijan, RFM Corporation, Atlantic Coatings, Inc., Energy Development Corporation, LGU Teresa, Rizal, CENRO- Batangas, Jorms Trading, Sardido Industries and Filinvest Land Corporation.
The agenda of the meeting was to discuss the proposed expanded Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) of the Adopters. According to Ms. Sebarillo, the expanded MOA was a request from the DENR Secretary in lieu of the ongoing Manila Bay Rehabilitation Project.
The concept of the expanded MOA is either increase in the adopted water body or increase in the number of adopters.
The participants of the meeting were encourage to submit the names of the organizations that EMB will invite as potential partners.
Adopters who will signify intent or interest on the project will have the MOA signing with the DENR Secretary on June 14, 2019 at the DENR Main Office in Visayas Avenue, Quezon City.
A follow up meeting was held on June 11, 2019 at the EMB Office in Manila to finalize the MOA to be submitted to the DENR in time for the MOA signing on June 14, 2019.
The meeting was attended by Engr. Gretchen Fontejon- Enarle of Atlantic Coatings, Inc and PCAPI Vice President for External Affairs.
